Culture is beautiful

Image
I had a talk with a new friend today. He asked me about my life in USA. He wondered if there was any culture shock for me and how it was going. This brought me to the topic "Culture". People in different nations can differ in the behaviors and cultures. Cultural difference around the world may shock you  but if you look in the great ways, it could benefit you as well. There is one dominant culture in the States that I really like,  and I think this is somewhat Thai culture should pick up too. The thing that I am falling in love here is "equality", which means you are equal in rights, status, races and advantages. I had a meeting with one of the management team today. We went over the duties that he needed my help on, but I disagreed on some of the points he was mentioning. If I were in Asian countries, I believed the only thing I could do  was just to follow his instructions. But because I am working in the States now,  I told him what I thought and also shared my i...

It's ok to ask for help

Image
"If you don't help yourself, nobody will." I bet you might have heard the sentence before. That's a 100% true. If you don't help yourself, if you don't value yourself, if you don't try to make things better on your side,  it's very hard that someone else will give you a hand. So you will need to start from yourself first. However, helping yourself doesn't mean you cannot ask for people's advices. There can be a better vision if you take some steps back  and see the problem from further,  as you will see the whole picture of it.  Have you noticed that if a friend of you tells you her problem and asks for some advice,  it's very easy for you to give her some ideas? But when it's all about your own problem,  it takes more time  and seems to be harder than usual.  That's because it's not only your brain that is functioning,  but your mind is also working very hard as well. I got a chance to talk with a famous Thai influencer lately....

Learn to read between the lines

Image
The world has been more chaotic than before. Not only crimes, wars, disasters and conflicts that happen nowadays, people's minds are a lot more complicated as well. That's why we need to read what someone implies too, because sometimes people do not openly state  when they say or write something. Reading between the lines will help you  get the full meaning of everything. I came across with an interesting passage years ago. It was the passage about reading between the lines. It's essential to understand the true context the person would like to say, especially when it's personal. I also have something to tell you as well. Are you ready to read it? Here below is the message from me to you, ** I wrote it myself ** "My great love that I always give to you is disappeared and my smile when I do not have you  is a lot bigger. I thought I was so lucky to meet you. But in reality, I was totally wrong. And if I could turn back the time, I wish we hadn't met. Even though...

What is the meaning of your “Happiness”?

Image
What is the meaning of your “Happiness”? Be a Millionaire? Be a Superstar? Be a Famous person? Be an Influencer? To me, none of the above. My Happiness is just that I can do what I want, whenever I'd like to do. Just only I can sleep where I want, whenever I'd love to sleep. That is enough! That is my Happiness! I was a white collar working for a big international company and I was happy every month end when I received my paycheck. I thought that was my Happiness. However, after I had worked for a long time, a question popped up in my head, “was this my true Happiness?”. The answer was NO! So I decided to resign and explore my true happiness. As I know that I love travelling and enjoy flexible hours, I pursued my certificate as a tour guide and I enjoyed it. It might not be as secured as full-time employment, but we cannot eat a cake and have it too. This is a proverb meaning "you cannot have it both ways" or "you cannot have the best of both wo...

True happiness

Image
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands. (clap clap) If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands. (clap clap) If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it. If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands. (clap clap) May I start a chapter with this song? And may I also ask.. Are you happy now? There are actually two kinds of happiness.  Happiness that arises when you get what you desire  and happiness  that arises with the total absence of desire. Let’s talk about the first kind of happiness - Happiness of being satisfied. If you desire for something and you get it, you feel happy. But by the time you get something, you may be desiring for something else, and you keep looking for more and more things and can never be truly satisfied.  Another word, this kind of happiness changes from stage to stage  and the change is continuous and endless. Let’s move to the second kind of happiness - Happiness of no desire . This happiness ...

Now or Never (Carpe Diem)

Image
Have you ever heard a quote saying  "Good things come to those who wait"? The quote is absolutely true  only when  you are not just sitting still,  being passive  and waiting for your dreams to become true. Instead, you need to grab the chance,  do it now and work towards the end. Carpe Diem (/Car-Pae-Diem/) is a Latin phrase used to encourage  someone to make the most of the present, and put very little trust in the future, because nothing is certain and tomorrow may never come. I always wanted to move out of Thailand when I was young. The two choices in my mind at many times were Singapore and the States. I kept the thought with me and never really moved out because I was afraid that it would not be as good as I wished. I had a fear of failure and worried that  I had to come back and restart everything again. Until the day my mom said if I should go and try to find a job in the States, I had so many conflicts in my thought at that time  bu...

Live and Learn

Image
Changes are inevitable, And most of the times, they occur without a warning. Happiness and sadness take turn in visiting your door, and no one could predict when they will leave you  and when they will come back to see you again. The only thing you can do is to be prepared. Either you feel pleasant or unpleasant, the state will just be temporary. So "Live and Learn" Live in the moment, by Being aware of what is happening right now, without wishing it were different. Learn to enjoy the moment, by not dwelling in the past, not worrying too much about the future, and doing your best on the present moment. There are a lot of changes/challenges we have faced. The recent biggest one is the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the pandemic, a lot of people lost their jobs, and need to live in their insecurities. Many countries issue lockdown orders for their residents to stay at home as much as possible to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. I have been home for 3 months now. Apart from...

When you feel like giving up

Image
As time goes by, there may be a lot of challenges you face every day. You are encouraged to fight, to work on it, to go for it and to never give up. But sometimes, when you have been holding on for so long, and still cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, there will be days you want to give up. It's totally ok to make some mistakes (it proves that you are trying) , to have a bad day (a bad day only lasts 24 hours) , to be less than perfect (count the progress, not perfection) , to ask for help (as we all need it sometimes) , to take a break (self-care is essential), and to take small steps (because small steps still lead to big changes) . Everyday, I have a list of what I need to do, what I should do and what's good if I do. I am very close to be a perfectionist, and I always want to mark all of the lists done before I end my day. and that stresses me out sometimes. Yesterday was a tiring day for me. I was totally drained when it's almost night time, so I deci...
